I keep seeing "NVM" in messages but don’t know what it stands for. Can someone explain its meaning and when to use it?

NVM is an acronym used to denote never mind in texting. It is employed to indicate to a person that he or she should disregard what has been already said or to show that some thing has lost significance or relevance. Example: “NVM, I figured it out.”

NVM stands for “Never Mind.”
It is applied in order to cancel or debunk an earlier message - e.g.:

“Oh wait, NVM — I figured it out!”

In texting, “NVM” means “Never mind.” It’s used when someone wants to cancel a previous message, drop a topic, or indicate that something is no longer important. People often use it after realizing the issue is solved or the question doesn't matter anymore. It helps keep conversations quick, casual, and clear in chats or social media.
