What are mixed numbers in math?

I’m trying to understand how whole numbers and fractions combine. Can someone explain mixed numbers with examples?

A mixed number is a combination of a whole number and a proper fraction. It represents a value greater than one but written partly as a whole number and partly as a fraction.

Mixed numbers are numbers that combine a whole number and a fraction, such as the number 2½, which means 2 wholes and 1/2 together.
