How do you correctly write "PhD"?

I'm a bit unsure about the correct way to write "PhD" in formal writing. Should it be "Ph.D.", "PhD", or something else? Please clarify the correct format.

In most formal and modern writing, “PhD” is the preferred way to write it. You can still see “Ph.D.” in older or traditional styles, but both are acceptable.

You‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ indicate it as PhD, with "P" and "D" capitalized and "h" lowercase, and without any periods; the fully expanded form is "Doctor of Philosophy." however, the conventional and correct shortened form is just ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌PhD.

The proper form is PhD, which is an abbreviation of PhD or Doctor of Philosophy, where both words are capitalized and the letters do not have any period or punctuation marks in most of contemporary style manuals.
