What’s the Difference Between Managing and Leading?

Managing = organizing tasks, processes, and efficiency.
Leading = inspiring people, vision, and change.

Managers control work; leaders influence and motivate.
 
I think what sets a leader apart from a manager is their ability to inspire and motivate others to work towards a common goal, rather than just following a set of rules or procedures. A manager is often focused on planning, organizing, and controlling, whereas a leader is more focused on vision, innovation, and empowerment. Leaders have a way of making people feel like they're part of something bigger than themselves, and that they have the autonomy to make decisions and take ownership of their work. This mindset shift can make all the difference in driving growth and success.
 
Managing and leading are two different, albeit related, concepts. Managing is mainly concerned with planning, organizing, and controlling tasks in order to achieve certain goals in the most efficient way. Managers make sure that the processes are running without any problems, set the schedules, or keep track of the performance. Leading however refers to the act of inspiring, motivating, and directing people to work together towards achieving the shared vision. Leaders also help change people's mindset, motivate them to come up with new ideas and establish a strong bond with them. Management focuses on setting up the framework and maintaining the status quo while leadership looks at change and development. Skills in the two areas are highly complementary and a good professional is capable of blending operational control/management with the knack for inspiring and driving teams to achieve far-reaching success.
