What is the difference between fascism and Nazism?

I’ve heard both terms used to describe authoritarian regimes, but I’m not clear on how fascism and Nazism differ. Can someone explain the main distinctions between the two?

Fascism and Nazism are both far-right, authoritarian ideologies, but they differ in focus. Fascism, founded by Mussolini in Italy, emphasizes nationalism, obedience to the state, and a strong central leader, without being inherently racist. Nazism, led by Hitler in Germany, is a form of fascism that adds extreme racism and antisemitism, centered on the idea of Aryan racial superiority. While both reject democracy and promote dictatorship, Nazism’s core goal was to create a racially pure empire, making it far more genocidal in nature.
