What is the coefficient of 3x?

I’m trying to understand how to find the coefficient in algebraic expressions. For example, in 3x, what exactly is the coefficient, and how do we identify it?

The coefficient of x 3 is 3. The coefficient is in an algebraic sense the numerical factor which is multiplied by the variable(s). In this case, 3 is the multiplier of the variable, x.
