I keep hearing the term "pre-med" thrown around, especially from students who want to become doctors, but I'm still a bit unclear on what it actually involves.

Pre-med refers to the college courses and requirements students complete to prepare for medical school. It’s not a major but a track that includes science classes like biology, chemistry, and physics. Pre-med typically lasts four years, the duration of an undergraduate degree, before applying to medical school.

Pre-med” refers to the undergraduate track students follow in preparation for applying to medical school. It's not a specific major, but rather a set of courses and activities required or recommended for med school admissions.
