I’m learning about animal classifications. Can someone explain what primates are and give a few examples along with their key features?

Primates are a group of mammals that includes monkeys, apes, lemurs, and humans. They are known for their intelligence and adaptability.

Main characteristics of primates:
  1. Opposable thumbs – Allow gripping and manipulating objects.
  2. Forward-facing eyes – Provide depth perception and binocular vision.
  3. Large brains – Enable learning, problem-solving, and social behavior.
  4. Flexible limbs and hands – Aid in climbing and tool use.
  5. Social structures – Many live in groups with complex interactions.
  6. Varied diets – Omnivorous, often eating fruits, leaves, and insects.
