What are Common 3D Shape Names?

Some typical naming of 3D shapes include:

  • Cube -Every side is the same, as a dice.
  • Cuboid (Rectangular Prism) - Six rectangular type faces.
  • Sphere - Ideally round, as in a ball.
  • Cylinder Two parallel circular faces joined together with a curved face.
  • Cone - Base of circular form and tapers to a point.
  • Pyramid- Base triangle (polygon) which has triangular faces, meeting at a point.
  • Tetrahedron - Pyramid having a triangular base (four faces).
  • Prism- Two similar polygonal faces joined with rectangles.
These are the most widespread shapes of 3D learned at school.
