Is duolingo effective?

Hi everyone, I’m considering using Duolingo to learn a new language, but I’m not sure is duolingo effective for real progress. Can you become conversational with it alone, or do you need other resources too? I’d appreciate any honest feedback. Thanks!

Yes, I am currently learning Spanish on Duolingo. I have learned a few words, like what do you call a boy and a girl? So it will first teach you a few words, and then it will start introducing sentences.

Duolingo is helpful for basics and daily practice, but it’s usually not enough alone to become conversational. Most learners make real progress when they combine it with speaking practice, listening to native content, and real conversations.

Duolingo can be effective for building basic vocabulary, daily practice, and motivation through short lessons and gamification. However, it works best when combined with speaking, listening, and real conversations. For serious fluency, learners usually need study methods beyond the app.

Yes, Duolingo can be effective for learning basics, building vocabulary, and practicing regularly. It uses repetition and short exercises that help beginners stay motivated. However, it’s best when combined with other learning methods like speaking practice, real conversations, and grammar lessons. Duolingo alone might not make you fluent, but it’s a useful tool in a broader study routine.
