I’m comparing metric and imperial measurements. Can someone tell me which is longer, 5 meters or 5 yards, and by how much?

Five meters is longer than five yards. Here’s the breakdown:
  • 1 meter = 1.0936 yards
  • So, 5 meters = 5 × 1.0936 = 5.468 yards
That means 5 meters is about 0.468 yards (around 17 inches) longer than 5 yards.

Five meters and five yards are not the same length. A meter equals about 1.094 yards, making five meters roughly 5.47 yards. Therefore, five meters are slightly longer than five yards, providing about half a yard more distance overall.

Five meters and five yards are not equal in length. A meter is roughly 1.094 yards, so five meters is approximately 5.47 yards. As a result, five meters are somewhat longer than five yards, offering approximately half a yard greater total distance.
