What Is Secondary School?

Secondary school is an educational institution for students aged 11 to 18, following primary school. It offers advanced education in subjects like math, science, and literature, preparing students for higher education or the workforce. Typically divided into lower secondary (middle school) and upper secondary (high school), students may take exams to earn diplomas. The focus is on developing critical thinking and social skills.

Secondary school is the educational stage following primary school, typically for students aged 12 to 18. It includes lower and upper secondary levels, focusing on academic subjects, personal development, and career preparation. Secondary education often leads to qualifications for higher education, vocational training, or entry into the workforce.

Secondary school is a school where students study after primary school — usually class 6 to 10 (or even class 7 to 12 in some countries). Subjects at this level are a little advanced like science, maths, history, languages, etc. In countries like India this schooling is equivalent to middle school + high school. The goal of secondary school is to give students an academic base and prepare them for higher education (like college).
