What is a Baccalaureate Degree and how is it different from other degrees?

Hi all, I’ve come across the term and was wondering—what is a baccalaureate degree? Would appreciate a simple explanation and how it compares to other academic qualifications.

A Baccalaureate degree is another term for a Bachelor’s degree, typically a four-year undergraduate program. It provides a broad foundation in a chosen field of study. Unlike associate degrees (two years), it offers deeper specialization, and unlike master’s or doctoral degrees, it is an entry-level qualification.
