That “21 days to form a habit” thing is more of a myth. The actual science says it usually takes around 60 to 70 days for a habit to feel automatic. It really depends on the habit though simple ones take less time, complex ones take longer.

Think of a hurricane like a giant heat engine. The ocean gives it energy, and the storm keeps converting that heat into wind. As long as it stays over warm water, it keeps sucking up more moisture and growing. The moment it hits land or cooler water, it loses fuel and weakens.

Think of magma like hot pizza cheese. If you let it cool slowly in the box = stretchy big chunks. If you drop it on the cold counter = BAM, solid in seconds. Igneous rocks form the same way slow = big crystals, fast = tiny crystals. Geology is basically fancy cooking.
